Two-Year-Old Child Was Abandoned Over Fears He Was A Witch

A two-year-old Nigerian boy has been rescued after his family abandoned him in the street over fears he was a witch.

The poor child was left to fend for himself for eight months, surviving off the scraps thrown to him by passersby, reports the Daily Mail.

Thankfully the boy was found by Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven on January 31, and has been rescued from the street.

The boy has been renamed Hope and has received urgent medical attention for malnutrition and to help rid him of worms.

Loven founded the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation three years ago, and has taken to Facebook to highlight how many children are at risk.

She said:

Thousands of children are being accused of being witches and we’ve both seen torture of children, dead children and frightened children.

Thanks to her intervention Hope is reportedly recovering well.

Loven commented:

Hope’s condition is stable now. He’s taking food for himself and he responds to the medicine he gets.

Today, he has had powers to sit up and smiling at us. He’s a strong little boy.

After the incredibly powerful images of Hope went viral donations flooded in to help with the cost of the infant’s medical bills, with it reported by the Mail that $1million (roughly £695,000) was received.

Loven has promised the money will be put to saving even more kids like Hope.

She said:

With all the money, we can, besides giving Hope the very best treatment, now also build a doctor clinic on the new land and save many more children out of torture!

He certainly looks a lot happier now.

Loven, and her husband David Emmanuel Umem, are reported to have been building their own orphanage since late January, and needless to say they will definitely be making a huge difference in the lives of many underprivileged children.

A Baby Dolphin Died Because Tourists Wanted Selfies With It

A baby dolphin has died after it was pulled from the sea into the hot sun so tourists could take selfies with it.

Last week, a young Franciscana dolphin was killed on a beach in Argentina as a consequence of severe dehydration and ‘rough handling’ by a crowd of eager tourists, reports The Dodo.

The animal was reportedly taken from the water along with another dolphin, so people could take photos with it, and images from the scene – which were posted to Facebook – show one of the dolphins surrounded by a crowd of beachgoers.

An environmentalist from the Vida Silvestre Foundation wrote online in response to the incident:

[Dolphins] can not remain long above water. They have very thick and greasy skin that provides warmth, so the weather will quickly cause dehydration and death.

The foundation confirmed that at least one of the dolphins had died, but it is unclear whether the second animal survived the ordeal.

As if the loss of life simply to satisfy some tourists’ need for photographs wasn’t bad enough, Franciscana dolphins – found only in the waters of southeastern South America – are classified as a ‘vulnerable’ species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The Argentinian Wildlife Foundation has now issued a public reminder about the vulnerable dolphins – of which there are only 30,000 left in the world.

The species’ conservation is of particular concern because they tend to swim close to the shoreline, where they often become tangled in fishing equipment. 

The Simpsons Make History With First Live Episode

It has been announced that for the first time in the history of The Simpsons the show will feature a live cast appearance.

The Daily Mail has reported that Homer, voiced by Dan Catellaneta, will be coming to us live at the end of an episode on May 15.

It will be the first time since the show started in 1989 that it will have taken on the challenge of live production.

No, the writers won’t be breaking their wrists to frantically scribble down the scene, it will apparently be created through the use of motion capture technology.

According to Deadline Homer’s appearance will also allow for fan interaction as he will be reflecting on events of the day and answering viewer’s questions.

The Mail has reported that the live segment has been produced to help aid the show’s ratings during May’s ‘sweeps’, a period where ratings measuring company Nielsen monitor around two million paper diaries from homes across America to review what viewers are tuning in to.

The results of ‘sweeps’ months can greatly impact scheduling and advertising in the future.

This will be a huge moment in the show’s history!

 

Would You Try This Pub's New Take On Guinness - 'The Badger'?

I'm hesitating to call this drink a cocktail, but I guess it is one...

A pub in Skegness has come up with a new drink that incorporates Guinness and none other than Smirnoff Ice. They've dubbed it 'The Badger' and it looks gross and intriguing in equal measures.

The Marine Boathouse invented the drink in celebration of 'Young Farmer's Weekend' (whatever that is). However, many others have come forward to claim that they invented it after the picture went viral.

It's certainly split opinion. Hundreds of the comments below the images are people tagging their mates saying that they want to try one, however others aren't so keen.

BREAKING: A New Harry Potter Book Is Coming Out This Year

There's been a lot of talk recently about Harry Potter and The Cursed Child - a two-part West End play due to open this summer.

The story is set 19 years after the very end of the final book, and follows the story of Harry (as a Ministry of Magic employee) and his son, Albus.

However, loads of Harry Potter fans (myself included) were absolutely gutted when tickets sold out in a matter of seconds.

BUT NOT TO WORRY, POTTERHEADS.

Little, Brown UK has just tweeted this, and it was promptly retweeted by J. K. Rowling.

According to the tweet, the script book will be coming out on 31 July this year.

Time to dust off my old wizard's robes and hang outside the local bookshop at midnight like I used to do as a kid. Don't judge.

The front cover (which is subject to change) states 'based on an original story by J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.'

So if you didn't manage to get tickets for the play, you'll still be able to find out what happens.

Skate 4 Could Be A Reality As “Leaked” Image Surfaces

Get your salt at the ready, because we don’t have too much to go on here other than an image. Still, if it’s legit, we may just have had confirmation that Skate 4 is on its way and ready to help us enjoy skateboarding games again.

The image comes from a listing on Australian home entertainment website JB Hi-Fi. Apparently the post was quickly taken down, but luckily someone managed to grab a picture on their phone before that happened.

Fans have been waiting for a new Skate from EA ever since Skate 3 rolled into our lives back in 2010. After all, it’s not like we can count on the Tony Hawks series anymore, because Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5 was a hot pile of steaming shit (and that’s being kind).

Personally, I call bullshit on this. As much as I’d love a new Skate game, this just screams fake. The “cover” for the game looks pretty poor – so either this is a fake, or EA need to hire themselves a new team of designers.

This Lad Is Travelling The World And Eating Pizza Everywhere He Goes

Some of us are lucky enough to have jobs we love, but this guy really is living the dream with his.
Meet Phil Duncan.

He loves travelling the world almost as much as he loves pizza. So he decided to combine both and now stuffs his face with saucy slices as he wanders across the world.

His pizza passion started at five-years-old when he ate a pizza baguette in Disneyland Paris, Elite Daily reports. Since then, he has eaten pizza in over 30 different countries across five continents, documenting his journey on Instagram.

He shares his incredible adventures on his travel blog, Travel Slice, where he writes about his pizza pilgrimage.

Speaking to Elite Daily, he said:

I love the pizza in New York, especially Front Street Pizza just by The Brooklyn Bridge. During my last trip to NYC, I managed to eat at 10 different pizza shops within 36 hours of being there.

Just by looking at a few of the photos below, you can see this guy has a pretty awesome life.

Phil continues:

I have been to some of the largest cities in the world and some tiny remote islands in the middle of nowhere. It amazes me no matter what the traditional food is like, you will always find somewhere that sells pizza.

According to Phil though, there is some real bad pizza out there too, with Argentina being the worst pizza he’s ever had. Maybe it’s just South America? Weird pizza in Brazil emerged only a few months back with tyres and creme caramels included. Grim.

When it comes to his future exploits Phil dreams of getting to the home of pizza, Italy and also revealed more ambitious plans.

He added:

I have never been to Italy, the home of pizza. Mainly because when I go and do my pilgrimage, I want to do it properly, really experience it and hopefully learn how to make pizza. My dream, when I’m old, is to open my own pizza restaurant, so I suppose I should learn to make it rather than just eat it.

Keep living that dream Phil, I’m not jealous whatsoever…

Metal Safe Discovered Under Demolished Home Of Drug Lord Pablo Escobar

The former home of a notorious Colombian drug lord has revealed one final mystery while being demolished.

The Miami Beach mansion once owned by the ‘King of Cocaine’, Pablo Escobar, is currently being demolished nearly twenty years after the U.S. government seized it from him, the Mirror reports.

However during the demolition, construction workers discovered a secret metal safe hidden beneath the concrete and weighing around 50-stone.

The safe is now being kept inside a bank vault guarded by armed security until the current property owners decide to open it.

Escobar is infamous for being the wealthiest criminal in history, with an estimated net worth of $30 billion (£21 billion), and approximately $100 billion (£70 billion) when we include money he buried in different places throughout Colombia. His story has also recently become the subject of Netflix drama Narcos.

Fast-food entrepreneur Christian de Berdouare, who owns the home with his wife, television journalist Jennifer Valoppi, said:

This is real. It’s still locked. It’s very, very heavy. We can’t believe it — now Pablito [Escobar] is my best friend. We had left one of the walls… when I started to knock it down, a piece of rubble hit the foundation, the floor sunk and I saw it.  It was something gray. I grabbed it with the excavator’s claw, realized it was a safe and started to yell to tell them.

At roughly 6,500 square feet, the four-bedroom mansion would have been surprisingly modest for a man who called himself ‘The Godfather’.

De Berdouare now plans to build a more modern house on the site of the mansion.

The Game Just Posted His Bank Balance On Social Media And Holy Shit

It’s always good to see celebrities giving back and actioning their words for the good of humanity, and this is something The Game does regularly.

But the rapper’s latest gesture is probably his biggest yet, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Compton native donated $500,000 of his own money to the water crisis that is currently hitting Flint, Michigan, sent across $1million in water bottles, then challenged any celebrity to match him.

However, in the very heartfelt Instagram post, in which he made his official announcements, he didn’t blur out any of the details from his charity’s bank account – which showed a grand total of $13,274,585.32.

Whether this was on purpose or not, we don’t know, and with this only being his charity bank account it’s safe to say that $13million is only a fraction of his wealth (he is reportedly worth $25million).

Hats off, Game. Let’s hope your message puts a few celebrities under pressure. It’s about time people put their money where their mouth is.

Jordon Cox A.K.A the no-chill-savage-supreme needed to get from Sheffield to Essex, but the train was expensive. So he shopped around and realised that if he went via Berlin he could save almost a tenner.

Sure, it's an extra 1,017 miles, but eight quid is eight quid. You could buy a meal deal at the train station for that - possibly two meal deals #ballin

Jordon found that the cheapest one-way ticket from Sheffield to Shenfield, Essex was £47. Bloomin' expensive that.

However, he could spend £4 on a train from Sheffield to Derby, then £4.20 on a bus from Derby to East Midlands Airport, followed by a ridiculously cheap flight to Berlin with Ryanair for £11.83 then £9.54 on a flight from Berlin to Stansted and £8 on his bus ride home, totalling £37.57.

Unfortunately, Jordon didn't factor in the requisite £40 to £50 any flyer must spend in the Stansted Wetherspoon's prior to a trip of this nature.

Meaning his experiment cannot to be trusted.

Professional competitive eater "L.A. Beast", who hosts a challenge-based channel on YouTube, attempted to drink a whole gallon of the stuff.

Google Earth Doesn’t Want You To See These Mysterious Secret Sites

Google Earth has put the world at your fingertips: from the Pyramids of Giza to the Great Wall of China everything and anywhere is just a click away, but even Google has its secrets.

news.com.au have reported a number of sensitive areas which are blacked out or hidden on Google Earth, and conspiracy theorists claim these sites hide sinister secrets.

Here’s a list of the hidden areas.

HAARP, Washington-Oregon border

The mysterious and secretive HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) was located near the Washington-Oregon border.

The US Air Force shut down the research facility – which studied an energetic and active region of the upper atmosphere known as the ionosphere – in 2014, however it remains blacked out on Google maps.

Conspiracy theorists have long believed that HAARP was a program designed to build a device to control the weather, while some have said it’s a UFO test site.

After the Haiti earthquake in 2010 the Venezuelan leader, Huge Chavez, claimed HAARP, or a program like it triggered the earthquake.

The secret city, Russia

Deep in the Siberian Tundra there’s an area that appears blurred out on Google and nobody knows why.

Back 1986, Russia claimed there were dozens of ‘closed cities’ around their country. These mysterious towns have strict travel and residency restrictions and specific permission is needed to visit them.

It’s thought that these towns are probably sensitive military establishments or secret research installations which need much more space or freedom than is available in a conventional military base.

These cities usually have mysterious numbers attached to their names, such as Arzamas-16, which was the home of the atomic engineers who put an end to America’s nuclear monopoly. Some have suggested this blurred piece of tundra may be one of Russia’s ‘secret cities’.

One writer on the website Siberian Light speculates it’s either ‘a radar station or missile interceptor,’ while another theory is that the image of the area has just been copy-pasted from another part of the country.

Portlaoise Prison, Ireland

Portlaoise Prison in Ireland’s County Laois is a high-security prison where the country houses some of its most dangerous criminals.

The prison isn’t blurred on Google Earth, but anyone who takes a look at the prison on the map may notice that the colours of the image don’t match with its surroundings.

This is because the view on Google Earth is of an old prison, believed to be a security precaution to stop people planning an escape from the facility.

 The Faroe Islands, Denmark

The Faroe Islands are a self-governing archipelago, and a part of Denmark. They’re made up of 18 volcanic islands between Iceland and Norway in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Oddly, a large area of the islands is missing, including an old WWII military base on the island of Vágar.

No one is quite sure why parts of the Faroe Islands, home to 50,000 people, are pixelated, but news.com.au claim that it’s nothing exciting like a UFO base and is probably something to do with fishing rights.

Százhalombatta Oil Refinery, Hungary

When Google photographed the Százhalombatta Oil Refinery in Hungary they asked that the image be coloured green and have its building and grounds removed from satellite photos – but no one really knows why.

Even stranger, though, is that the green blocks out a field of grass with nothing on top of it.

Kangtega, Nepal

Kangtega, known also as The Snow Saddle, is a huge mountain peak in the Himalayas, Nepal.

For completely unknown reasons the Saddle is blacked out on Google Earth, although it’s believed by some to be a simple glitch in the system.
